The Department of Education launched the first ever career portal for Tibetan students on December 30, 2015 at Nyatri Hall, Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamsala by Honourable Education Minister, Mr. Ngodup Tsering in the presence of DOE Secretary (Mr. Topgyal Tsering) & section heads of Department of Education; Mr. Karma Chungdak, Director of STSS; Principals of Petoen, TCV Gopalpur & Lower TCV; Teachers of upper and lower Petoen Schools and Tibetan Media persons. Chief Guest, honourable Kalon, stressed the benefit of such resources for the students and also urged all present in the hall to disseminate information about the website to the target group. While Ms. Dolkar Wangmo, Chief Counselor, welcomed the audience and stated the purpose of creating the website. She also said that it is a one stop career resource for students, teachers and parents. Finally, Ms. Pema Norkyi, Assistant Counselor, proposed the vote of thanks. The inaugural function ended with a simple tea & refreshment.

The DoE Guidance & Counseling section organized school based Orientation for Class XII students of CST Darjeeling & CST Kalimpong on 2nd & 4th February, 2015 & CST Mussoorie, STS Poanta Sahib, THF Mussoorie, CST Herbertpur on 16th & 17th February, 2015 while CST Shimla & CST Dalhousie on 6th April & 8th April, 2015 respectively. The purpose is to orient passing out class XII students on College Admission & Scholarship so that their transition from school to college becomes smooth. 

DOE Assistant Counselor, Mr. Tenzin Chondhen took sessions on the college admission procedure, presentation on how to fill college admission forms, documents required for admission & scholarship, presentation on Scholarship, updates on latest admission announcements, options in different streams, rules and dress codes of different colleges, interview tips and list of top ten colleges & professional institutes etc. He has also counseled students individually. All students were given a Career Information Booklet compiled by the Counseling section.

Students were provided official counseling email address and contact number of the concerned counselor as well as of the Department if they have questions and concerns to be addressed.

Students were also provided with tea & light refreshment during the Orientation.

Total of 403 students of Class of 2015 participated in the event.

The Department of Education Guidance & Counseling section organized the 4th Leadership Workshop for School Captains from April 11 - 16, 2016 at Tibetan Reception Center, Dharamsala. Dr. (Mr.) Nawang Rabgyal, Education Secretary, Department of Education was the Chief Guest and in his inaugural speech, he stressed on the importance of being a Compassionate & honest leader as well as appealed the participants to be a good role model for other students. It was attended by 38 School Captains (19 boys & 19 girls) from 19 Senior Secondary Tibetan School in India & Nepal escorted by 18 Teachers. The first 3 days of the workshop was solely focussed on Leadership and its different aspects while the later 3 days were on understanding the policies and functioning of 3 organs of CTA and a tour to the different Departments of Central Tibetan Administration. The highlight of this workshop was the special audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the participants of the workshop. During the six days' workshop, students learned through interactive participation, lecture, role play, group work, presentation and small group simulation. The closing function of the workshop was presided by Mr. Karma Singey la, Additional Secretary, Department of Education and in his valedictory speech, he spoke on the importance of practising what is learned during the workshop. It concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants.

The Department of Education Guidance & Counseling section organized the 11th Orientation for Class XII passed outs at Conference Hall, Library of Tibetan Works & Archives, Dharamsala on April 20, 2016 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. The inaugural ceremony was presided by Dr. (Mr.) Nawang Rabgyal la and he stressed on importance of upholding ones traditional values and to be a good Tibetan ambassador when studying in different Indian Universities and Colleges. He further urged the students to make best use of different opportunites available in the institutes where they will study.  Ms. Donkar Wangmo gave the welcome address and spoke on the purpose of organizing the Orientation. According to her, organizing orientation on Transition makes the students better prepared and ready for the next stage - entering college and makes new adjustment smooth. 50 students from Tibetan Children's Village, Tibetan Homes Foundation, Central School for Tibetans, Sambhota Tibetan School & Private English Medium School attended the event. The topics were Tibetan Identity & Values (Ven. Geshe Lhakdor la, Director, Library of Tibetan Works & Archives, Dharamsala) Transition from School to College & College Admission Procedure (Donkar Wangmo, Chief Counselor), DOE Scholarship & Application Procedure (Tenzin Chondhen, Assistant Counselor) & Vocational Options & Institutes offering the Courses (Ms. Pema Norkyi, Assistant Counselor) etc. The students asked questions to clear their doubts & participated well. Each student was given an information booklet containing latest list of top colleges, courses offered at various colleges, course fee structure, list of fake universities, list of Tibetan Insitutes, list of Vocational Courses/Institutes, DOE Scholarship announcement, Scholarship Form (which can be torn from the book) & information on ban of ragging in colleges etc. It ended with a refreshment for the participants.

The Department of Education Guidance & Counseling section organized Leadership Workshop for Tibetan Youths from May 26 - 31, 2016 at Tibetan Reception Center, Dharamsala. It was attended by 52 College students (30 males and 22 females) from 12 major cities in India and Nepal. The chief Guest, Dr Nawang Rabgyal (Education Secretary) inaugurated the leadership workshop for Tibetan youth and he spoke on the importance of essential qualities required to be a good leader. He urged the college students to utilize the six days workshop meaningfully by actively participating in the workshop, interacting with participants and with resource persons.

The first three days of the workshop was facilitated by Resource persons - Mr. Ramesh Partani Chairman, Ms. Margarita - Director-Education and Ms. S.Mahalakshmi - Director- Training from Ru Education Pvt Ltd. Hyderabad. The topics of the first 3 days were Multiple Intelligence, Communication skills, Effective communication model, Public speaking, Team work, Interpersonal skills, Goal setting, Mental toughness, Creativity, Innovation, Appreciation and Constructive criticism. The facilitators employed various methods such as lecture, presentation, group work, role play, simulation, energizers & games etc. The workshop began with doing yoga exercises and meditation from 6:00 am to 8:00 am which was the high light of the workshop.

But the latter half of the six days' workshop was on educating about CTA's Policies and the functioning of three organs of CTA viz Executive, Legislature and Judiciary as well as toured the various Departments of the CTA. The speakers at the workshop were honorable Sikyong, Dr. Lobsang Sangye (Current Political Status); honorable Speaker, Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Mr. Penpa Tsering (Evolution of Tibetan Democracy); Ven. Yangten Rinpoche, Gaden Phodrang (Dhoegyal); Ven. Geshe Lhador, Director, LTWA (Tibetan Identity & Importance of Tibetan Language); Mr. Pema Jungney, Chithue, (Tibetan Charter & Parliamentary Procedure) ; Mr. Sonam Shasur, Chairman, TPSC (Induction to Tibetan Civil Services); Mr. Sonam Dagpo, Secretary DIIR (Middle Way Approach); Mr. Tenzin Lhekshey, Bureau of HH the Dalai Lama (Lobbying & Advocacy); DOE Scholarship (Ms. Chemi Tseyang); Yoga Trainer (Mr. Dawa, STSS Office); Presentation on Lamton Website (Donkar Wangmo).

The event concluded on May 31, 2016 at 3:00 pm presided by Mr. Topgyal Tsering, Administrative Secretary, Department of Education with distribution of certificates to the participants.
