Department of Education announces Pestalozzi Scholarship - 2017

The Department of Education announces Pestalozzi Scholarship to study A Level Program at Claremont School, United Kingdom. Those interested may apply

Important Dates:

  • Last date for submission of Application Form: July 31, 2017
  • Date of Entrance Tests: August 11 - 14, 2017

Eligibility: Applicants to the Scholarship must have graduated Class X from any of the Tibetan Schools with a minimum percentage of 60% or CGPA 6.4 Age must be between 16 and 18 years old (born between August 21, 1999 to August 20, 2002 – attach a copy of birth certificate)

  • Student must be from low-income families, ideally with no relatives or close connections in the UK, US and/or any other highly developed countries.
  • A copy of Class 10 th Marks Card.
  • A copy of Student & Parent's Tibetan green book updated to December 2016
  • A copy of Student's Registration Certificate or Letter from Tibetan Settlement office for reason not having Registration Certificate.
  • If your parents live in Tibet, separated, or deceased, then a letter from Tibetan Settlement office is mandatory.
  • An application processing fee of Rs. 200/- must be sent along with an application form by demand draft payable to 'Tibetan Children Education & Welfare Fund'

Sikyong Professional Scholarship Program - 2017

The Department of Education & Tibet Fund announces Sikyong Professional Scholarship Program - 2017. Interested students may apply

Important Dates:

  • Last date for submission of Application Form (UG course): August 14, 2017
  • Last date for submission of Application Form (PG course): August 31, 2017

Number of Scholarship:

  • Undergraduate (UG): 08
  • Post Graduate (PG)/M.Phil/PhD: 12

Documents Required: Interested applicant must submit the following documents:

1 Application form 
2. CV 
3. Reference Letters (Applicant for Bachelor’s program must submit two
reference letters; one from School Teacher and another from
Principal/Rector/Headmaster. Those applying for Master’s program must submit two
reference letters from College Lecturer, and one more from School
Teacher/Principal/Headmaster/Rector)
4. Letter of admission confirmation in one of the listed Colleges/Universities
 
Scholarship Amount:
a) Tuition fees: 
For Category A, tuition fees will be reimbursed as per bill with the maximum ceiling of Rs 2 Lakh. Any amount expended by the applicant against capitation fee/donation will not be reimbursed.
For Category B, tuition fees will be reimbursed as per bill with a maximum ceiling of Rs 1 Lakh. Any amount expended by the applicant against capitation fee/donation will not be reimbursed.

b) Maintenance Allowance: 
Annual fixed maintenance allowance of Rs 80,000 will be provided for both category A & B. However M.Phil. & PhD candidates will receive an additional contingency allowance of Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 per annum respectively.

Tibetan Children's Project Canada (TCPC) announces Scholarship - 2017

Tibetan Children's Project Canada announces Scholarship for underprivileged Tibetan Children from India, Tibet, Nepal & Bhutan.

No. of Scholarships: 15

Scholarship Amount: 

  • Rs.75,000/- for three students who score more than 75% in the Class XII Board Exam
  • Rs. 55,000 - 65,000 to 12 Students

Important Date:

  • Deadline for application submission is: June 09, 2017

Documents Required:

  • Copy of Green book with upto date contribution
  • Grade 12 completion certificates & mark sheets
  • A letter from Settlement Officer in support of student's dire financial need to pursue his/her higher education
  • A biodata with aims and future course of study, and two full body photographs
  • Completed Scholarship Application Form

Department of Education announces Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship - 2017

The Department of Education announces Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship to study Undergraduate Program and Post Graduate Program in India. Interested students may apply:

Important Dates:

  • Last date for submission of Application Form for Bachelor's program: June 15, 2017
  • Last date for submission of Application Form for Master's program: August 31, 2017

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidate who is generally good at studies but could not perform well during the final exam
  • Candidate who has excellent moral character (sincerity, honesty & good conduct), and social responsibility
  • An orphan, semi orphan or children belonging to destitute (Nyamthak) and poor families
  • A candidate must be a recipient of Dalai Trust Scholarship for Bachelor's program to apply for Master's Program

Application Procedure:

  • All candidates must submit application form no. 1 along with one of the following.
  • Those applying under criteria 1(a) & 1(b) must submit form no. 2 duly filled by respective School's Principal/Rector
  • Those applying under criteria 1(c) must submit form no. 3 duly filled by respective Tibetan Settlement officer

Document Required:

  • Applicants for Bachelor's program must submit marks Card of Class X & XII (If your Class XII result is not announced, please write your Class XII Exam Roll number in the Application Form)
  • Applicants for Master's program must submit marks sheet of Class XII & Bachelor's degree
  • Certificate of Best Boy/Girl (if any) from School may be submitted
  • Applicant whose parents live in Tibet/deceased/divorced/separated or one of parents are non-Tibetan, must furnish a letter from respective Tibetan Settlement officer or Principal/Rector of the School.

An Applicant who has not studied Tibetan as a subject in class X & XII:

  • Applicant must sit for Tibetan Language Proficiency Test (Class X equivalent) administered by the DoE, and must secure minimum of 33% score. The test shall be conducted in Department of Education (Dharamsala) and Tibetan Settlement offices across India, Nepal & Bhutan. The Student has the option to choose any test location. The test shall be conducted in the third week of June 2017

Important Guidelines:

  • A Student who receives DoE scholarship is not entitled to receive any additional scholarship unless you have a special reason.
  • All documents must be attested either by Tibetan Settlement officer/Joint Secretary & above or Principal/Rector of the School.
  • Scholarship is not awarded for Vocational courses
  • A demand draft of Rs. 200/- in favor of "Tibetan Children's Education & Welfare Fund" must be sent along with Application form as a Registration fee. Those who have Nyamthak number are not required to send this fee.
  • Any Application form received by the Department of Education before 14 days of the deadline will be informed of any missing documents, but the Student must be responsible to resubmit any missing documents before its deadline.
  • Applicants are not required to submit a copy of RC and Green Book because the Tibetan Settlement officer has checked your RC and Green Book by attestation on Application form.
  • Applicants from Nepal & Bhutan, or from Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Gangtok and North East who do not have a Registration Certificate (RC) must furnish a letter from respective Tibetan Settlement officer certifying that the applicant is a Bonafide Tibetan Refugee
  • Application Form and required document must reach the DoE by its deadline (Bachelor's program by June 15, 2017 & Master's program by August 31, 2017) on the following address:
